I started in the Human Services sector 19 years ago while working for a mental health crisis line directed at families and loved ones seeking general information about community supports. This introduction to the field was my calling card, and I continue to pursue other avenues to help me broaden my scope of the Social Services field. I worked in various areas, including Health Promotion, Volunteer Management and in the Post-Secondary academic sector. Also, I volunteered for numerous organizations specializing in self-esteem and mental health education. I decided to go back to school full time and earn my Social Service Worker Diploma with a Gerontology designation. From there, I worked in crisis management and for rural oriented non-profit agencies. My volunteering capacity continued working with older persons in various realms such as ageing in place and isolation reduction.
With my educational background, combined with my experiences, I apply my strengths-based philosophy in assisting clients, patients, and participants in being a catalyst to bring out the best in people. I thoroughly enjoy being a part of smaller and larger groups and can work independently when necessary.
